Goryokaku Tower (107m)

Visitors can enjoy viewing Japan's first western-style pentagram castle named Goryokaku, designated as a special historical site from the two-story observation platform of Goryokaku Tower, which stands 107 meters tall. The city of Hakodate, Mt. Hakodate and the beautiful Yokotsu Mountain Range can also be seen from the platform. On a clear day, the tower provides spectacular views of the Shimokita Peninsula and Tsugaru Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture across the Tsugaru Channel. Take a look at the 16 views of Goryokaku on a scenic model called "Memorial Pole" and learn the history of Goryokaku with graphical displays in the Goryokaku History Gallery on the second floor of the observation platform. Situated on the first floor of the observation platform is an all-weather glass atrium filled with plants and greenery. This comfortable sunlit retreat offers visitors a place to sit and rest during their visit in Goryokaku.
